I had breakfast in the garden this morning and did a few tweets:
Now it's back to the garden.....

Morning, Richard,
Great stuff. Obvious to anyone with a bit of sense. But will the powers-that-be listen? Or will you be Cassandra again – doomed to tell the truth and not be listened to?
Alas, the powers-that-be are like a stupid Captain Bligh, adrift in the ocean, and hoarding all the food and water for himself, forgetting the need to keep the oarsmen fed and watered, with the result that they all perish.
BTW, as Wikipedia tells us:
“after being set adrift in Bounty’s launch by the mutineers, Bligh and his loyal men all reached Timor alive, after a journey of 3,618 nautical miles.”
One of the great feats of nautical navigation. Pity he’s not in charge now!
Setting aside the need for addressing climate change for one moment the MMT proposal for a Job Guarantee Scheme should be interpreted as the necessity for new skills re-training given many businesses will likely never re-open because of the coronavirus pandemic. These new skills may well be computer based and require teaching in the classroom and/or the workplace. To envisage the JGS as merely low skill labour jobs does it a disservice.
Agreed
Some of the most contradictory people are those who insist that climate change is a current crisis, not a current problem with the potential to become a crisis, but a real and current emergency.
They will stand in Council and say “We declare that there is a climate emergency”, and then go home and walk their dog.
Stating these ideas in such short form is really cool. I think that will help to embed them in the collective consciousness. I especially like the stuff about rents although you might start being called Richard Mao-phy. 😀
I can live with it
I sometimes like the discipline of reducing an idea to a tweet
