Call it a statement of intent to do more audio:
And the dictation accuracy is almost 100%, which is also good news, because I don't have time to type everything.

But you sound so pompous in speak
No one asked you to listen
There is an off button
No we don’t have to listen and you do have a great voice to listen to btw 🙂
I think the opposite to Tommy Gunn so quite [look] forward to an audio Tax Research.
Thanks
‘Pompous’… ? Usually sounds ‘considered, erudite and learned’ to me.
But I guess we all hear things differently, though it does sound rather unkind imho.
Tommy Gunn says:
“But you sound so pompous in speak”
I no think he pompous in speak. You pretty dumb in write tho
Fine for those who can hear, but what of those who cannot? I need the written word, or subtitles, and I’m sure there will be others like me.
Please don’t leave us behind.
The vast majority of my output will be written
And I’ll try to remember to do transcripts of the rest
I am aware that this is an issue
That will also be the case when I begin doing more Youtubes, which is plbeginbanned
Audio miss little gems like “plbeginplanned” but podcasts and YouTube widen your audience.
I could try….
I liked the MMT podcast edition – https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/8-richard-murphy-corbynomics-labours-fiscal-credibility/id1375093518?i=1000421664437
Very intelligible to me!
We are doing another of those very soon….
What do you use to transcribe your audio?
I play it back into the Mac and let it do the work…..most people don’t realise the Mac has pretty good dictation facilities
I know there are bette4 methods though….I still have to punctuate it the way I do it. I think there is software that does that too
Richard – honestly – you sound really reasonable and considered when you speak – don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You are on the correct path.
As for Stephanie Kelton’s book ‘The Deficit Myth’ I’d recommended everyone buy copies for friends, family etc., this year.
The only way we can raise people’s expectations of what their Government can do for them is make sure as many know how sovereign money creation (and destruction) works as possible. This way we might see genuine MMT in our life time or at least in that of our children’s or their children’s.
We have known since 2008 that Neo-liberalism has ran out of road – the Covid crisis has I think revealed the ‘phony economy’ we have been coping with since then is not fit for purpose – it’s another chance for change (albeit a sad one given the unnecessary deaths and suffering). So that that pain is not in vain, we now just need to get out there as much as possible and talk up MMT whenever possible.
I’m not asking for utopia – all I want is for a Government to genuinely try it – taking into consideration of course other factors and limitations that have been discussed here and Kelton’s book – something that any truly dynamic, pro-active Government could do if they wanted to. Or if we asked for it, time and time again – as long as it takes.
But getting MMT out there is where we need to start which is why I am very happy to see you new microphone and happy to hear your voice anytime.
Thanks PSR
I struggle with the written word. Long pieces can be particularly daunting, I miss bits, whole sentences, sometimes whole paragraphs, and I misread words.
Until I discovered audiobooks my list of books read was short with reading a book painfully hard work. Listening to books has enhanced my life beyond description my read list is now in the 1000s.
Any spoken word material that you could provide would be very well recieved from me. I find that the voice/style of the person reading the book is very important. John Le Carre does some of his own books, its quite a committment. He understands his own material, obviously, and this comes through in the ‘performance’. You will do just fine.
Let me reflect on that some more
How about infographics??
This information needs to be disseminated widely
In readily digestible forms by the lay person
I suggest a multi-prong approach
I also believe we need a new vocabulary. Richard I know – pigs might fly – but my gut feel is, in many contexts, as soon as the word DEBT is deployed, game over.. the recipients has already reverted to their internal schemata
Al Jarreau on the computer in the background is a bit of a problem though/
BTW personally I do not listed on any podcasts or similar but I know many people do.
It was pure chance – it was a link from another video I’d been watching
I wasn’t taken
