I still don’t get rap, but I can see that if you want to get a message across the more different styles of presentation you can embrace and utilise the more effective the coverage will be.
It is one of the accusations aimed at the Labour Party (with considerable justification) that their message is finely tuned to an intellectual middle class and the traditional supporting working class don’t get it because it is not being presented in their own language. Communication has not occurred until the message is both received and understood.
Boris Johnson has the gift of being able to mumble incoherent nonsense which is very well understood. Sort of. His most eloquent expressions this week have been silence. On flooding, and on racist ideology.
We all know exactly where we stand. Whether we are supportive of the message or vehemently opposed to it, the message has been received and understood. Across all bandwidths.

I’m not fond of rap, but I get this message. Thanks, Dave, for not remaining silent.
