I think this worth sharing. The BBC did get this right:
“It is not too late. We have an interview prepared. Oven-ready, as Mr Johnson likes to sayâ€
Andrew Neil issues a challenge for Boris Johnson to commit to an interview with him, to face questions on why people have “deemed him to be untrustworthyâ€https://t.co/daHLxEYn4r pic.twitter.com/oQ21uDdtJe

I imagine that Johnson can and will totally ignore this and get praise for it from the media. One only has to imagine the uproar had Corbyn done the same. The outcry would be totally deafening. Something very sinister happening in my country. Time to be afraid.
I don’t know if this poll is correct but i am more interested in con being stuck at 42%.
I hate polls and think they should be banned during a GE. However is this a useless spike or do u think it will get higher. I think my predictions are still valid. Labour is more likely be on 39%or 33%, 29 % according to this and other polls

We simply cannot know what is right
We can keep trying to ensure people vote ABC
Anything But Conservative
What is the point of elections if polls are supposed are so right?
I mean seriously the media, politicians, pollsters and academics says the polls are so good Labour can never get a majority. If that is the case what is the point of having an elections? I mean that seriously, you might think it is a daft statement but it is not.
Even if polls do get it wrong badly you get all the pollsters trying to make it out they were right all the time. I think polls are bad and bad for democracy. In the end people will just look at the poll and think oh they will win i will vote for leading party or just do not bother to vote. A self fulfilling prophecy in which the polls say look at us we go it right.
A lot of people up and own the country are thinking the same and think the election is all over. Nothing changes they say and they are right. I think this is a sign of a society in terminal decline as the people cease to believe in it.
To tell you the truth i think what is the point of my vote, it is not worth a damn thing, it’s a wasted vote. If companies can “correctly” say how an elections turns out the vote i cast has no worth to it. It is like a weimar banknote.
Give me a basket for my vote, need it to carry the polling station.
Darren Sharrocks says:
“I mean seriously the media, politicians, pollsters and academics says the polls are so good Labour can never get a majority. If that is the case what is the point of having an elections? I mean that seriously, you might think it is a daft statement but it is not.”
Yes it is.
You’re on the wrong site.
Calm it please – Darren appears to be here to make a contribution and all are welcome to do that
Oh well………………I suppose that is something, even though Neil’s self importance turns me off as does his confusion over his role as what exactly – a prosecuting barrister or a journalist?
Last night I heard ex-IFS alumni Evan Davis say that Corbyn had said his ‘…usual line’ in answer to the about accusations of anti-semitism from the Jewish Labour movement. It was obviously dismissive – a loaded statement and not at all objective. I felt like complaining.
The media are just not fit for purpose in this country. They seem to be competing with on-line content using the lowest common denominator which as as we know, is extremely subjective.
The question is how can left wing parties get their messages through to the public in these circumstances!
JLM? Huh! An organisation to which, as far as I know, you do not have to be Jewish, or a Labour Party member to belong, and which, according to Asa Winstanley at Electronic Intifada, was set up with the sole purpose of preventing Jeremy Corbyn from entering No. 10.
(See https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/asa-winstanley/jewish-labour-movement-was-refounded-fight-corbyn?fbclid=IwAR14E1ydZq7pe6wfso_sCdYlmOwnHcNHU5FUvL-1m3Qn6Owuzii_yG4kVIA)
I have little patience with them, and am far more willing to take the word and witness of Jewish Voice for Labour, where you DO have to be Jewish AND a member of the Labour Party, to be able to join.
Agreed
Boris Johnson, you must debate.
Johnson is terrified of scurtinity. One of his antics did make me laugh: In the Channel 4 Climate change debate he sent his daddy to fight the bigger boys. Pure primary school.
Me too. My old Great Uncle Ted died from Scurtinity after many months at sea…
What is that?
Has anyone seen this documentary ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwlvLe-X27o
It is a damn fine one. It also shows a document written by Oliver Letwin and John Redwood. Where they drew up a plan to privatise the NHS in Jan 1988. It is also goes through the process on how the nhs is being privatised like a frog slowly boiled in water.

I have referred to that document many times
Richard asks: What is that?
What ?…….scurtinity ?
It’s a rare, but fatal form of typochondria.
Yes…….
He has nothing to gain from debate, and a lot to lose.
His not debating will not harm the Conservative primary voter one bit, whereas his having a disaster of a debate will harm his chances of gaining votes.
This election is about those in the political middle-ground…..
I assume the association between ‘ oven ready’ and ‘chicken’ is intended.
Borisovitch – nailed, indeed. However, I thought the aspect ratio – designed to look like a mobile phone camera – was the almost the most interesting part of this stunt. Clearly somebody in the BBC has worked out that it is more likely to be believed/have street cred. if it doesn’t look like itself. A small cultural victory for the alternative media and a frail emblem of hope for the future?
Now that the free-market Conservatives have declared that they will NOT allow their two-faced Borisette frontsman to be interviewed by Andrew Neil my grannie’s yiddish put-down of immoral (amoral?) cowards is ringing in my ears. “He is running way to where the black pepper grows (Er iz antlofn vu der shvartser fefer vakst)”.
‘Where the black pepper grows’ is India and othjer tropical parts of Asia, which to migrant Jews looking westwards (some stopping off in Scotland, Leeds and even Manchester) was the ends of the earth, the back of beyond, the place where an unscupulous charlatan (eyn gonif) would hide his abject cowardice andhis underlying dishonestry.
She had two-faced Boris’ number. People like him had shaped her life.
It must be almost physically painful for Andrew Neil to see his own party of choice led by such a buffoon as leader of an incompetent cabinet of lightweight and self-centred nobodies.
I wonder if he will actually be able to bring himself to vote on Thursday ?
If Boris cannot stand against Andrew Neil or runs when people ask questions. How is going to survive as Prime Minister? He knows his lies will get in him the end but hoping people will it ignore it.
He hates PMQs, threatens channel 4, have a compliant press, that’s all ok if they do not care. However when the dogs turn they do very fast and Johnson is in for a nasty shock if he wins on thursday
I rather like this interview with Boris Johnson yesterday on the subject of whether he’ll agree to be interviewed by Andrew Neil. It say it all about whether you should vote this prime-minister back into office on the grounds of trustworthiness:-
https://eastdevonwatch.org/2019/12/05/owl-has-to-repost-the-bsolutely-brilliant-local-johnson-interview-where-he-agreed-to-be-interviewed-by-andrew-neil/
(Note you may have to adjust the volume setting bottom right on the web page.)
If team Johnson was not prepared to put their boy in the ring they should have said so from the start.
I’d normally say that was ‘disingenuous’, but since Parliament is not sitting, unparliamentary language can get through the net, I’d say it was a lie by omission.
The serious lying has not even started in earnest yet. That will begin on Friday week unless the electorate wills otherwise.
What amazes me is that is that anyone – let alone a potential PM – would agree to be interrogated by Neil. The guy’s a bully through and through.
No post re debate this morning Prof?
Don’t want readers getting down by msm crap so here’s what the unreported results are.
Who won the last debate?
Britain Elects 33,000 votes
Corbyn 57% Johnson 28%
Paul Brand ITV 30,000 votes
Corbyn 78% Johnson 22%
Martin Lewis 23,000 votes
Corbyn 47% Johnson 25%
The Times 8,000 votes
Corbyn 63% Johnson 37%
YouGov 1,646 polled
Corbyn 48% Johnson 51%
And the last is reported
I watched the debate and i thought it was a draw and had a bit of think on it. I just gave it to corbyn ie 51/49/ I thought bojo DID OK. Doing ok for a oxbridge educated man against a man who have not got even good A levels is a disgrace. It goes to show his A levels/Degree and GCSEs were rubbish. Lucy Powell found out public schools GCSEs, were of a lower standard than the state schools. They do what is call an independent GCSE. So these people have poor training and poor skills, and it shows.
Interesting results nonetheless.
Thank you DunGroanin, thank you very much for that.
Boris Johnson was fired by Andrew Neil from the Spectator in 2005. I wonder if that has more to do with it. Neil was his boss, I guess he know Boris quite well
