Remember that thing about new ideas?
First they ignore you.
Then they ridicule you.
After which they get very angry.
And then claim it was their idea all along?
I've done the being ignored. I suffered that on the Green New Deal for most of the last decade.
And now some are ridiculing. To hide their anger. This is from the BBC and features Senator Mike Lee of Utah speaking in the Senate and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez speaking in the House, both this week:

Mike Lee does really low grade stand-up.
Sadly he has the right tone to persuade his bovine constituents that he’s not exhaling methane when he opens his mouth.
Idiot.
The difference betwen these two members of Congress is stark, is it not? One thinks polirtics should be informed by scientific research and facts, the other by science fiction. One is interested in policy that is for the common good, in avoiding catastrophic global warming, the other is appealling to the short term self-interest of methane producing cattle farmers.
One acts like a responsible adult, the other like a bad comedian. Star Wars was great when I was a teenager, but several decades later I can see it for the childish, simplistic fantasy that it is. Foolishly, I allowed myself to be conned by the trailer for ‘The force Awakens’ a few years ago and wasted £20 on a ticket for the Odeon Leicester Square to see what was basically a cynical exercise in money making.
