As usual some who might politely be called idiots are offering me comment for publication on the blog.
Many, some offering superficially sensible comment, are doing so using blatantly silly pseudonyms or hide them behind the names of Nazis, North Koreans, or variations on these themes.
I really can't be bothered with such stupidities. So as soon as I identify them I delete them.
In this case please don't waste your time because as a matter of course I now also block the names used, the emails used and the URLs as well. All of which saves me a lot of time.

Good for you Richard. I use my real name on a wide variety of sites – working on the basis that in a democracy – it is important to be able to both speak out but at the same time not hide behind a pseudonym. I’d also suggest that it makes daft comments less likely.
I agree. Idiots!
Oh dear !! I use my nickname which I had at school in the 60s (ex potholer!) Mainly because I work in the NHS and I have in the past, on this blog, made critical comments about some of my Trust’s policies, you would not believe how much bother you can get into for doing this. Hope I am not banned !!
But you also look like you have a genuine email and offer sensible comment
While I applaud your approach to not giving fools a platform, I wouldn’t block the URLs used. You can put anything in this form-field and malicious folk could silence the voice of respected folk, just by inputting their site when commenting.
For example, I have just used your own URL. If I were to do this on another site with a similar policy, and post a facetious anonymous comment, you might find yourself unable to comment on that site in the future.
URLs are not entered data
They come from the machine that comment is submitted from
I’m probably an idiot, because I’m truly an amateur in economics and some of the posts go straight over my head. I try to understand and learn, but sometimes I have to be honest and acknowledge how little I know. Nevertheless, it’s good to read this blog and know that idiotic comments have been filtered out, unlike comments in even the ‘serious’ media. Thank you, Richard.
I try
And you’re the sort of person I do want here
You can’t imagine how many idiots have responded to his post….Cuba is today’s speciality

I think the best description for these people are clowns. They certainly have the same puerile sense of humour as the idiots hanging around street corners to frighten the living daylights out of strangers.
Those people are not real clowns! As Carl Sagen once famously said “yes, they laughed at Columbus and Copernicus but they also laughed at Bozo The Clown”.
Well said sir. As someone in publishing you wouldn’t believe some of the submissions I receive. Some are didactic, others are plain idiotic. A pleasant read is a rarity.
Keep filtering out the rubbish please Richard. It’s what makes this blog and the discussions so useful, keeping the lunatics firmly in the asylum!
But is it not the idiots who make actual policy?
