I am speaking at Jeremy Corbyn's rally in the Albert Hall, Nottingham on Thursday evening.
I am sure everyone is bored by now of me saying I am not a member of the Labour Party, etc., but this event is another opportunity for me to explain the ideas I have created that Jeremy is using.
If the press want to come and ask questions I gather the press conference is from 6pm.
It will be good to meet readers of the blog - please do say hallo.

Dear Richard, I/we are delighted with your ideas behind Corbynomics, and pleased to see that there is still hope that the LSE might finally permit you to shed more light on the alternatives to PSBR and permit the debate for a reintroduction of the kind of CLAUSE 4 regulation proposed in the House in 1945 by the then M.P. for Nottingham South Norman Smith and the brilliant plan set out in his excellent little book published in 1944, entitled THE POLITICS OF PLENTY. I have scanned it and will bring a copy to Nottingham for you on the August 20th. I have spent the last 40 years gathering and publishing monetary data – the last one being THE OTHER ROAD TO SERFDOM -HOW UNREGULATED CAPITAL CAUSED THE CRASH OF 2008 -and all the others – FROM PLATO TO NATO.
With best regards
David

Hope you’ll put a word in for LVT, Richard;o) JC says he supports it and mentions it in his ‘programme’, but only for derelict sites. It’s important for housing since Council Tax is the most regressive tax; it will bring down the market price of land for new build; it will recoup housing benefit from landlords, etc. It’s important for business because the building (included in the assessment for Business Rates) is part of working capital and most business premises are rented and LVT puts the burden on owners not tenants. Please take a look at the paper which I jointly wrote on how to implement LVT: http://www.labourland.org/papers-and-articles/.
Will try – but time limits are tough
I promise it is in the Joy of Tax
RICHARD – IN HIS BRILLIANT LITTLE BOOK – THE POLITICS OF PLENTY- FIRST PUBLISHED IN 1944. NORMAN SMITH, WHO WAS THE LABOUR MEMBER FOR NOTTINGHAM SOUTH, WHO WAS PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR TABLING CLAUSE 4 IN 1945 HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT PHILIP SNOWDEN & HIS ULTRA ORTHODOX IDEAS: -The late Viscount Snowden, when as Mr. Philip Snowden he was the Labour Party’s financial expert and I was a Parliamentary Lobby Correspondent, used to be icily sarcastic with me on the occasions when I suggested to him that banks created the funds they lent. And the entire Labour Party for nearly thirty years took its cue from Mr. Snowden’s hundred per cent orthodoxy in financial matters. Many Labour Party people, including Members of Parliament, are still Snowdenites in monetary policy from sheer force of habit, although it was Mr. Snowden who, with his orthodox financial faith carried to the extreme lengths of fanaticism, sank the Labour Party at the General Election of 1931. “They ran away,” he hissed in that acid voice of his when he went to the microphone at the height of the contest and turned Labour votes by the hundred thousand into “National” votes. And unfortunately, instead of denying the alleged need for tightening the belt in a world where production was abundant but consumers were half starved, the Labour Party, swallowing the bankers’ dictum that “Budgets must be balanced,” conceded the alleged necessity for “economy” and differed from its opponents only on the question of whether the rich or the poor should be the victims…”
IF AROUND IN 2015 SNOWDEN WOULD HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR TURNING HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND OF LABOUR VOTES INTO VOTES FOR THE SNP, AS IT IS THOSE RESPONSIBLE WERE STILL FOLLOWING HIS ANTISOCIAL IDEAS.
Fascinating
This is why it’s difficult to crow about the fact that Labour enacted LVT in 1931 when Snowden was Chancellor:o(
