As the FT notes this morning:
HSBC's chief executive has complained that bankers are being held to a higher standard than bishops as the UK government promised a legal crackdown on banks that facilitate tax evasion.
That's because you thought y0u were the Masters of the Umiverse Mr Gulliver, up there with the Gods. The bishops only claim to be God's servants. Of course that makes bankers more accountable.

Perhaps this should be seen as a natural consequence of claiming to be doing God’s work 🙂
This is because weak Government has allowed banks to become too powerful and also because that power has gone to people’s heads – especially those at the top.
Lets hope there is some real change and some real accountability in the near future.
What a whinger! Especially in view of his malodorous behaviour evidenced on this blog.
He sounds like the toddler on “You’ve been framed”, face covered in chocolate, who persists in solemnly telling his Mum that he hasn’t been at the chocolate, indeed, he doesn’t even like chocolate!
🙂
And as I read through the news…..

It was depressing to listen to Osborne (and nauseating to watch him) yesterday declare his intention to clamp down of tax avoidance and evasion because, no doubt, the measures he intends to introduce will exclude criminal penalties. This means that fines, no matter how hefty, will be paid by the banks and shareholders and the bankers will go Scott free – again
Ultimately of course bank fines are paid by its customers. Perhaps bank fines ought to be paid in voting shares !
