I’m not sure how relevant it is but I believe that US congressmen with interests in businesses registered in Delaware remain eligible to vote at a national level on legislation affecting business. Those with interests in businesses registered in any other state are obliged to declare that interest and may not be allowed to vote. Hence an unusually high number of US businesses are registered in Delaware.
The issue surfaced following the unnecessarily aggressive police behaviour at the time of Occupy Wall Street and was mentioned in a Guardian article at that time.
