Richard,
Not sure if I’ve missed your comments on Sir Gus O’Donnell’s latest appointment to chairman of Frontier Economics (a financial lobbying company, Ive been led to believe)?
Would you propose a ban on HMRC recruiting from large firms with which it has had disputes?
Yes
And what is wrong with internal candidates?
Its highly unlikely that many internal candidates have the required “background” !
Why?
Richard, My comment was a little tongue in cheek
I’m sure there are plenty of people in HMRC who would do a good job, as they have no experience of the private sector or disbelieve the corporate line, I doubt they will ever get a look in at the very top jobs.
Agreed
