I liked this succinct comment on the blog this morning with regard to the reorganisation of the NHS.:
Doctors are being put in charge of budgets where they have no expertise;
Service conglomerates are put in charge of diagnoses where they have no expertise;
Ratings agencies will judge hospitals where they have no expertise;
What could possibly go wrong in this evidence free reorganisation?
Nothing at all, obviously!
Now let us despair.

These reforms aren’t about pay , jobs or pensions , they are about the kind of society we want to live in ! We don’t pay taxes to enable private profit from public services !

Yes, in my opinion
That’s no problem then.
After all, having OccH staff diagnose health status works for the DWP.
Presumably we will have ex-traffic wardens diagnosing mobility problems ?
In what way is this going to save money. At the moment we have people diagnosed as ill by doctors and hospitals, who then have to go to health assessments to be “diagnosed” as not-ill by the private company that is paid by results.
Nearly 50% of those “diagnosed” by that company as fit for work then get that “verdict” overturned by appeal.
Personally, I would like to know the payment status of the companies contract with the DWP, as would others.
Ratings agencies rating hospitals – absolute madness.
They have failed and are fundamentally conflicted in that they are paid by the organisations they rate.
They failed to spot the US home exposures, despite having access to inside information.
What more could they have done to undermine their credibility if they had tried?
They didn’t fail to spot the problems.
They failed to warn others.
Some organisations have, by others, been noted as having profited from that “information failure”.
Can I be any more vague Richard ?
