This is so true:
It is an argument I make in The Courageous State.

There’s a typo in the title, Richard. Tony Benn says: “It was skill that built the strength of this country”, not “It was skill that built the strength of this company”.
You are right!
Corrected
I am a lousy proof reader – as I prove daily
what year was this recorded (cuts for the poor, tax breaks for the rich) sounds like now
It sounds like 1990
Oh dear, I think you don’t know what real entrepreneurship is. It’s about business leaders with leadership skills . But you can’t have one without the other i.e skills and entrepreneurs go together to form a successful economy. It’s a matter, as all types of issues often are,
of balance, too much market influence and yes some people suffer, too little and you stifle enterprise.
You run a race and the winner get the prize, there must always be losers, but the losers should not suffer. The trouble with State control is that it creates an illusion of fairness,
but it just disguises comptetitive human nature. I don’t want to swap The City for the State. so do think again please.
I have created numerous, successful businesses
I think I know what entrepreneurship is
What’s your track record?
Tony Benn is of course one of this country’s great orators. The last time I saw him was in the 1980s in the Midlands. He was travelling on the back of a lorry to make a speech at a rally at Aston Hall. Unfortunately the Left has no elected politician to match his oratorical skills at the present time just when they are needed the most. All we are subjected to now is some stupid soundbite with no analysis and I do not see this changing in the future.
