Next week up to 3 million people will strike for fair pensions.
I support their call.
That call is summarised in this leaflet.
I was happy to endorse the back page of that leaflet:

Well said. But my fear is we will see some of the worst anti-union propanganda since the 1980s. It will be divisive ( “divide & rule” ) , it will be brutal and it will portray public sector employees us somehow the enemy. The Express and Mail and the Sun will be vitriolic. I can only say to the unions that they keep reminding the media that they are ordinary people withdrawing their labour because of the attack on their pensions. Moreover the bosses politicians and the media professionals who will attack this action will all be drawing big pensions, good perks and very high salaries thankyou. Shame the labour movement cannot take out press adverts to combat the nasty trash which is being fired at them already.
Richard, as a PCS member I would like to thank you for your support, and for the work you have continually done supplying the TUC with ammunition and ideas in our struggle for a fair deal. I share Peter’s concerns about the Government and media’s tactics; however, I remain optimistic that, as the strikes near, the rest of the media will start to listen to us and to realise that the Government has been pulling the wool over their eyes.
The unions won the argument on June 30th when Francis Maude was taken to the cleaners on the Today programme by a combination of Evan Davies and Mark Sewotka; he then scurried away, and no Government spokesman appeared for the rest of the day on mainstream channels. Even Sky News were accusing the Government of lying about the costs of pensions. Four unions were on strike in June. This time there are nearly 30, so I have to be confident we can achieve something. I keep reminding my colleagues that although this particular battle is about pensions, if we lose this, they will strip back all manner of employment rights and entitlements right across the public and private sectors. It is very much tied in with the attacks on Employment Tribunals and workplace protections that Cameron and the CBI have in their sights.
