I just noticed my traffic stats for yesterday.
Seems like they’re all hot under the collar in the Isle of Man like they never get hot under the collar anywhere else:
Not sure why the US has gone to sleep either.
They’re usually second.
As for Jersey — falling behind Hong Kong, whatever next?

@ Richard.
Of course you will cause a surge in traffic from IOM when you write such a cockeyed piece. I don’t often post to your blog except on the channel islands LCVR VAT evasion on which I support your campaign. At least I can normally see a logic in your arguments even where I disagree with them. On this occasion though I think you are failing to let the facts get in the way of a good crusade. You still have not answered a point picked up by several correspondents, chiefly Chinahand; namely, why you are not comparing the modernised figures for 07/08 with the figures for 08/09. It is pretty clear that they are the only comparable figures prepared to the same parameters and if you think otherwise you certainly haven’t said why. I think if the Island was going to claim £62million in additional VAT then they wouldn’t have restated 07/08 to the new standard. The fact that the figures for both years have been stated proves that this is not the case. Now, if the VAT share for the IOM actually increases by £62 million for 08/09 I will hold my hands up and say you were right and it is scandalous. Somehow I don’t think it will happen do you? Or when it doesn’t are you going to claim the plaudits? 😕 This episode does you no credit. A more interesting and much more valid point you make is about the GNP for the IOM of £38k per head. Something amiss there I grant you.
@woolley
No credit?

I’m quite confident
But you decide
Jersey have gone to sleep because the heat is off just now…
“As for Jersey — falling behind Hong Kong, whatever next?”
Sorry Jersey, must be my ISP changing my IP address several times in a few hours – and on a Sunday!
If it’s only people on the IOM reading your work Richard then that’s hardly something to be particularly proud of. How many people live here?!
I find your work of great interest but essentially too subjective to be really useful when one is examining the position. You often let yourself down with this kind of (for want of a better expression but ‘smug’ will do) post. People here in Douglas are really not as concerned as you report. You will of course reply with ‘they should be’ but it’s all rhetoric. Many of us are old enough to have heard it all before.
And yes – we will see. But if you’re so confident that the wheels of the EU et al will have such an impact on how the Island does its business then why spend so much time trying to prove it? There’s a definite feeling of insecurity there. You’d be better spending time on getting a new photo taken 😉
@Mark
Of course this is subjective
Everything is
And this is politics
So of course you may not like what I say – and I really don’t care
I’m working to undermine your tax haven – and the best you can say is you don’t like my picture
Wow
That’s a spectacular exercise is putting your head in the sand
I’m working to undermine your tax haven – and the best you can say is you don’t like my picture
Richard – I don’t have a tax haven thank you.
But I do have a nice camera so get in touch!
@Mark
Only if you’re near Norfolk!
