Labour could win most seats at general election, poll shows | Politics | The Guardian .
The prospect of a hung parliament with Labour and Lib Dems forming a government remains strong.
On the eve of the almost certain announcement of the general election I consider this good news.
I have enormous problems with the Tories economic policies - which seem to me to guarantee a double dip recession and massive discomfort for the people of this country.
Labour needs to change. There has to be reform.
The Lib Dems can demand real electoral reform, a reform of the Lords and the prospect of Vince Cable as Chancellor - and competence is key right now.
How long will such a government last? It could be up to five years. And so what if it's less when the essential reform to politics has happened? And there's no prospect of that reform with the Conservatives - who guarantee more opportunities for abuse, I'm afraid.
That's why I'm hoping for a hung parliament.

This is really interesting. ICM have significantly given the Tories a bigger lead than other pollsters. If that pattern holds, we could see Labour level pegging in other polls (e.g. YouGov) over the next few days. I’m starting to think Labour could actually win this election – just. Having said that, I agree with you Richard – a hung parliament with some kind of Lib-Lab coalition would be better for delivering the electoral reforms we desperately need than another majority Labour govt.
Anyway, I’m feeling very upbeat about the election – which, 6 months ago, I thought was going to be disastrous…
@Howard
Yes – and you can feel that around Westminster too
My hope – people vote tactically
It’s not ABC – there are clearly worse options than Cameron – but we really don’t need a Tory govenment
I hope people get that idea and vote for the prospect of real change that a hung parliament could deliver
It’s going to be an interesting few weeks
Richard
