Liberal Conspiracy » Revealed: How Tory staffers are astro-turfing leftwing blogs.
Astro-turfing is people being paid to comment on blogs.
And it seems the Tories are doing it.
I am pretty sure some who comment here do the same for secrecy jurisdictions.
That's the sort of abuse those protecting wealth creates.

Not a lot new here. Sometimes they declare interest, as in the case of one company I know looking at blogs dedicated to opposing them, OK they have a view. Sometimes they don’t, and I don’t know who they are, but I can guess where they are from. Part of the game in a sense, what matters is that TJN and those involved are getting the message across. I agree though that this is one thing that should be left to the amateurs.
Maybe you should have in your terms and conditions or policy that astro-turfing is a breach of the site conditions?
And your problem with this is?
Transparency
Accountability
Honesty
Three words the Tories have problems with
Hmmm – I thought you were referring to Brown for a minute. In fact I bet even those lovely liberals do this. I also guess it is not in the same league as smeargate. I’m thinking you need to get a sense of perspective on this.
Extraordinary expression – “astro-turfing” – I wonder who thinks these terms up?
“Concern troll” is my favourite – we don’t seem to get too many of those here, fortunately.
Looks like the Tory who was being paid to comment on Left Foot Forward hadn’t realised that even if you sign up with several false names, the site admin can trace it to the same IP address. He/she won’t be bothering LFF again, I shouldn’t think.
I’m amazed Tory staffers haven’t got better things to do with their time than commenting on blogs – obviously some blatant overmanning going on at Central Office.
It’s quite easy to change you IP address, and it is generally essential at times in countries like Cayman where say you cannot buy off Itunes. SO you can buy effectively an IP address from another country to log on to circumvent this
Not that I have ever changed my IP for a blog it is a little pathetic.
I’m sure nearly all parties Astro-turf, there was talk about both the Democrats and Republicans doing it.
I’m sure it is very difficult to prove though, unless blog writers compare IP’s like in this case.
I think most of your naysayers here Richard, just have a vested interest in the offshore business or live offshore, I never have tried to hide the fact I live in Cayman and hail from the IOM
Richard,
Astro-turfing is people being paid to comment on blogs.
I am pretty sure some who comment here do the same for secrecy jurisdictions.
Rather doubtful. Too many individuals happily provide that service for free.
Georges
N.B. That would be the true definition of ‘free’ not the statist version.
