The Press Association has reported:

The Green Party has its sights on its first Commons seat after finishing first in Norwich in the European Parliament elections.

Analysis of local counts showed the party defeated all the major parties in Norwich, where a by-election is imminent, triggered by Labour MP Ian Gibson's resignation after controversy about his expenses claims.

Their optimism was reinforced by the city-wide results from the European elections, in which the Greens received 9,039 votes, ahead of the Tories on 6,329 and Labour on 6,045.

Now there’s an intriguing idea.
