Good articles are coming thick and fast today. Take this one in the Nation Online from Malawi.
What can I do but applaud an accountant who says:
It is high time to raise the slogan: "No to tax evasion".
I've never met the author, Patrick Achitabwino, but I rather hope I do sometime.

I would add to the campaign. Cut out wasteful and corrupt government spending.
For people to seriously believe in any campaign to pay tax I believe the lead has to come from politicians leading a “whiter than white” existance.
For example:
All spend is monitered and is necessary.
Spend is just not to increase their own importance.
Have incentives to comply rather than the big stick.
Declare all their personal interests.
Do not expoloit their positions to enhance personal wealth.
In the UK we have what you ask for.
True, misjudgements (sometimes serious misjudgements) occur on spending. But so do they in the private sector.
Realistically, the standard you ask for is being met. I entirely accept that is not the case elsewhere.
I am more than encouraged with your support to my article entitled ” Tax evasion: Highway to continued poverty”. Please let us keep on sharing more to fight poverty. I will be grateful to keep in touch with you. You may e-mail me through pachitabwino@yahoo.co.uk.
