I was interviewed on the above subject by Politics Home this week. You can hear it here starting at about 20 minutes 30 seconds. They also covered it on their web site, here.

Well I hope the Scots are listening that’s for sure.
How anyone can see your intervention as anything but benign is beyond me really.
It was not party political
Surprise surprise! Spain wants to include Gibraltar in any negotiated Brexit settlement and Spain as a continuing EU member will have the backing of Brussels. Possibly a 3 year old child might not have expected this but it was so obvious that this would happen than I didn’t know weather to laugh or cry when this seemed to surprise the Government and make headline news. Truly the country is being led by idiots and the English media gets more infantile by the day.
Growing up in Dublin and living in Northumberland (though north of Hadrian’s Wall) your points hit home. If I lived in Scotland I would vote for Independence; I do not feel in any way shape or form that I have taken back control since the Brexit referendum – quite the opposite in fact – It’s like in Lion King when Scar takes over.
The predictability of this was staggering
And let’s be candid, Gibraltar is not worth fighting over
Oops! He mentioned Gibraltar!

Rather you than me.
Have I ever ducked?
Especially from a tax haven that wants to be British and has done everything it can to undermine the UK?
The days are thankfully long gone when the UK could do anything if Spain ever decided to walk across the frontier. But the Spaniards probably don’t want the trouble of closing down the tax haven and repatriating the vermin.
The people will come here
Sadly I don’t know. The end point of the rod down which we are traveling is possibly war. Did wonders for Maggie’s ratings in the Falklands. Would be a bit more difficult with Spain though.
Wonder what odds Ladbrokes and the rest are offering on a Spanish takeover?
