I was on the radio in Ireland yesterday evening discussing the impact of Trump on its economy and tax policy.
I made clear that Trump was an enormous economic threat but maybe less of a tax threat than many might feel right now. I also made clear Brexit was a bigger threat.
In fact Ireland's position is remarkably well summarised by a 1970s pop song:
And yes, I know that's not Stealer's Wheel, but all their versions seem to be blocked on Youtube

Indeed Ireland seems to rumble along, the PR system helps.
I rather liked this one

Also the first EU leader Trump spoke to was Enda Kenny the Irish PM. I’m not sure if that was any way significant as Theresa May was well down the queue. Maybe he just wanted to settle the White House St Patrick’s Day party which is a tradition going back to 1952 and is going to continue under Trump.
Maybe you have some kind of filter blocking Stealer’s Wheel. This one seems to be fine:

Another ancient pop song, which I think describes the Brexit process:

Sorry to be flippant, but I think I’m getting to the point where I can’t take in the serious news. I’m regressing to a time when people somehow seemed kinder and I’m sure I remember more optimism about the future.
I’m sure future historians will see 2016 as a turning point.
That’s weird: I must have a YouTube block as I can’t get the one you link to
I have a lot of sympathy with your sentiments
And thankfully we’re stuck in the middle with you!
Well, we make good company
And that’s another band from that era I have not listened to for a while….
