This event was announced yesterday and is taking place at the offices of Unite the Union in London on 27 August. It was only announced yesterday and I think it's already a case of being added to the waiting list, but I thought it worth sharing:
NHA is very pleased to be able to present an evening with Professor Bill Mitchell, professor of economics and renowned proponent of Modern Monetary Theory, during his brief visit to the UK at the end of this month.
Come and join Professor Mitchell in conversation with Richard Murphy (Tax Research UK) and Ann Pettifor (Prime Economics), both currently economic advisors to Jeremy Corbyn's campaign. How can the debate on the economy be reframed around the things that really matter - people and the environment? Does MMT hold the key?
This is sure to be a fascinating debate.
There will be filming taking place during this event, as part of a documentary on MMT. Please let the organisers know on arrival if you are not happy to be filmed.
NHA is the National Health Action Party. I consider this a non-political event however and instead as one exploring ideas: none of those speaking are members of that party.

There’s a definite movement beginning to happen here. The event is sold out and the organisers are hunting for a larger one, it seems. Good news!
Good news indeed
You might be a bit lonely as the tube strike kicks in on the afternoon of 27 August!
Then I’ll walk
Booked my ticket and looking forward to the debate!
So am I
I do not think there will be just one view
Ann and I know each other well: we don’t always agree. Suppers at her place are often lively events
I would like to be there but it is fully booked. I hope there will be a video.
I know it is being filmed
The organisers are trying to get the documentary makers to upload the the raw debate to YouTube.
I sincerely hope they do.
This is important, Richard-it’s worth pointing out that Corbyn’s latest campaign leaflet has the phrase:
“let the broadest shoulders bear the biggest burden to balance the books” as this phrase is one of the LARGEST political footballs perhaps the issue of which books need to balance and which don’t could be brought up? re-education is vital here!
I have just published a blog on this that does make it clear that I am still very much my own man
Bill Mitchell talking to Ann and yourself is indeed wonderful news. With ‘Corbymania’ I think a tipping point is being reached regrading re-framing the debate.
The National Health Action Party (NHAP) who organised the event deserve great credit.
But where are the top anti-austerity politicians? I know for certain the NHAP wanted them there too. So come on Caroline Lucas, Natalie Bennett (and even Jeremy Corbyn!) don’t you understand you will NEVER win unless you REFRAME the debate?
So please stop looking a gift horse in the mouth and learn from Bill Mitchell how to do exactly that.
