The Guardian notes today:
Catastrophic climate change can be averted without sacrificing living standards, according to a landmark UN report published on Sunday. It concludes the transformation required to a world of clean energy and the ditching of dirty fossil fuels is eminently affordable.
I, and the other members of the Green New Deal group, have been saying so for some time.
Now is the time for delivery. The era of fossil fuel is over. This is the time to release what we call 'the carbon army' to transform our economy.

Lawrence McGintey’s report on ITN news recently on the IPCC report on global warming went thus…
” Flooding and drought will become far more regular occurrences. Millions will face starvation, with millions more hit by soaring food costs. As a result migration will become far greater. Up to 50% of species could become extinct by the end of the century.
But, hey, on the brighter side, it’ll be nice for your holidays!”
I paraphrase only slightly.
At the same time one (just one!) of the 90-odd experts refused to sign the paper because he felt it was ‘too gloomy’. Despite the disparity in numbers he still got equal air-time! Proof (were proof needed) of the extent to which the neo-liberal agenda has permeated our media and conditioned its handling of the issue.
What chance do we stand?
