This kind of pressure is in the right direction. I would supplement G8 by G20, it makes more sense and allow to gather more supporters among BRICS.

On the first of these points, you will have seen that GSK are promising to sell African countries drugs at cost as part of a PR stunt. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is this is flagrant tax avoidance as this strategy means GSK will fail to make a taxable profit in those countries so denying those countries tax revenue which could use to build the infrastructure in the first place. Is this the real motive? I am surprised you haven’t picked up on this already given your interest in this area and especially because your thoughtful work with Christian Aid.

Er, I think the previous comment was a wind-up Richard. At least I hope it was a wind-up. Tax avoidance by deliberately and aggressively reducing the price at which you sell drugs to the governments of developing countries so that you make no profit…? Such scandalous behaviour!
