David Gauke, the Exchequer Secretary, and I have not always had a harmonious relationship.
In fact, on occasion he's been pretty robust when making comment about my work, and I think it's fair to say I have reciprocated.
So, I admit I enjoyed this, just received:

Well, I reckon you should ask him for a job. It may even help your application if you mention that you can bring in a spare calculator, as George Osborne has obviously lost his!
Nice work Richard, but what’s the betting that they use your work, but subvert it? It’s a major tory trick that they’ve used before with Labour policies in Education, Employment and housing..

I am not sure I could afford to do the permanent job. It is unpaid, for reasons that are surely designed to exclude all but high earning barristers and lawyers

In all my dealings with Government departments I have received what may be politely termed ‘generic’ letters and generic letters for ‘responding’ to your dissatisfaction with the first generic letter. I have been writing to my M.P to get generic letters identified as such – we need to remove the veil from illusory democracy!
Well done Richard, but watch your back, especially on the GAAR committee. There are several individuals on this, I wouldn’t trust!
