I noted this morning that in ‘Britannia Unchained‘ five right wing Tory ‘MPs from he 2010 Tory MP intake argue:
It's more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy.
I happened to discuss this with my wife over lunch as she was around. We came up witha few more examples for them:
It's better to be a burglar than a policeman.
Or
It's more fun to be a shoplifter than a shelf stacker.
And maybe
It's better to be a benefit cheat than a worker.
Apart from:
It's more fun to tax evade than be honest.
In each case the logic is identical.
Any more, anyone?

the seriousness of the crime is inversely proportional to the amount gained ?
You have made the absurd error of equating “more fun” with better. It is more fun to go out drinking every night than it is to read economic websites. It is more fun to eat chocolate than salad. But a mark of humanity is that we try to improve ourselves. Thus more fun does not equal better. In fact, more fun often equates to worse.
No
I read it as the writers intended it
Have you read the book?
I thought it was more fun/better to not bother.
The only thing one can be sure of about politicians these days is that their experience outside of politics will be extremely limited.
Sounds interesting… I may steal a copy – I’m sure the authors will approve 🙂
It’s more fun to abandon any sense of decency and rob defenceless pensioners instead …
It is more fun to lie than tell the truth….
Its more fun to cut jobs than to create employment …
Its more fun to swear at police officers than to do as they politely ask…
Its more fun to privatise than nationalise…
Tax havens are more fun than HMR…..
Is it really more fun to be a pirate than to join the navy?
Only if you’re a thief by nature and hate policemen….. oh…oh…
How about it being more fun to be a Tory MP than somebody who seeks a better society?
It’s more fun to start wars up than stop them happening.
It’s more fun to be drug pusher than help people stay healthy
Simon and Garfunkel summed this up with, to paraphrase:
“It’s better to be a hammer than a nail.”
