That's what Polly Toynbee says today:
Class war, generation war, war against women, war between the regions: George Osborne's autumn statement blatantly declares itself for the few against the many. Gloves are off and gauntlets down, and the nasty party bares its teeth. Here is the re-toxified Tory party, the final curtain on David Cameron's electoral charade. No more crocodile tears for the poor, no more cant about social mobility or "the most family-friendly government" or "we're all in this together". Forget "vote blue go green", with this mockery of husky-hugging. Let the planet fry.
She's right.
As I've just said on air in Northern Ireland, whatever Osborne could do to make things worse, he has done.
He set out to use the downturn to destroy the public sector and all that most value in society.
And that is exactly what he is doing.
He is saying he doesn't care about the elderly, the poor, the unemployed, school leavers with no hope, those on low pay, the environment, the green belt anmd so much more.
All he cares about is exploiting labour so that profits grow.
And yes, that is class war. He declared it.

We need to respond to this in a positive way. We can make a difference and one way is to
stop tax avoidence and evasion.
This morning the EC will state how the Big 4 can be broken up.
This is one way to argue against vested interests in our society for the best of all.
If the politicians can not be trusted to do this, we the tax payer have a duty to do it.
Seems that a ‘Coalition’ Party or electoral pact, standing in 2015, is more likely given the cuts extending into 2017. This is no time for sectarian niceties … we need to remove this government asap, or we and our children will be living out the dystopia of Soylent Green … This really is a Class War against the overwhelming majority of the population:

Absolutely – I couldn’t agree more. And given that the economic situation is likely to get worse rather than better, Osborne will probably be looking at cuts all the way to 2021 by the time of the 2015 election. I mean, does anybody seriously believe the OBR growth forecasts for 2013-2015, given continuing austerity both here and abroad? Pull the other one.
The question is whether the Lib Dems will allow themselves to be pulled into a joint platform for 2015. I’m sure some of them would be OK with it (Clegg, Laws, etc.) – but I think it’s more likely that the party would split and you’d see “Social Democrat Liberals” standing in some seats and “Tory Liberals” in others. I’m sure they’ll think of better party names than that but there you go. Things could start to get very interesting after that.
It is good to see so many people protesting against Government policy throughout today.
The best comment I heard:-
Blame the Trade Unions – if it wasn’t for the Unions all our young children would not have been off school today. They would have all been working !!!
