The government is to extend its review of employment law to tighten up discrimination compensation and dilute rules protecting employees' rights when a business is transferred from one owner to another.
Lib Dem minister Ed Davey will announce the new areas up for review at the Institute for Economic Affairs today as the government attempts to clear away restrictions for employers.
So abuse is to be permitted.
Protection of employees when a buisness is sold is to be diluted to allow for more privatisation and outsourcing - with intent to cut wages.
And all of this done at Thatcher's favourite far-right think tank by a Lib Dem.
The abuse of the people of this country by a minority continues.
And let's not pretend that the Lib Dems are part of a progressive majority. They're not. The Orange Book ended that in their case.
So now Labour has to do this alone, or like in Canada, a new party has to emerge.

Not at all. The “tightening up” simply seeks to apply the same as cap to discrimination claims as it does to wrongful dismissal claims, which seems quite logical because the amount lost through discrimination must be less than the amounts lost through loss of a job.
Sorry, that’s absurd
Discrimination is much more serious tha loss of a job
It’s an assault on the person
Exemplary damages are due in that case
You show utter indifference to other humans when making your comment. Perhaps you have never been discriminated against. Many white men have not been. Maybe that’s you But if you ever had been you’d know that your comments make no sense at all and are deeply offensive.
…..and this at a time when thousands of public sector workers are being TUPE’d out of the public sector. How convenient.

Seems reasonable.
Transfer the employee to a private company without, or with reduced TUPE terms, and then give them a weeks notice a few weeks later.
Gets them out of the termination of contract compensation and the high amount of pay for a long-term employee as notice.
Not to mention the pension saved.
Now wait for the “give the new employer a wedge of cash as a “pension contribution” to end their gov pension” scheme…..then watch the “private company” depart down the road with the pension cash…..after being given expert advice by kpmg et al…..

I don’t know if the Lib Dems have ever claimed to be “of the left” in the way that many of the commentators here and in places like the Guardian seem to think. Also, what does “progressive” mean? Does it mean “against big business”? If so, why did you think that the Lib Dems were against capitalism? Was it in their manifesto?
Clegg promised “savage cuts” (his words) prior to the election. A vote for the Lib Dems was a vote for exactly that was it not?
Going slightly off the TUPE topic but . . . if your reference to a new party emerging in Canada is meant to imply the New Democratic Party, it isn’t exactly ‘New’ any more. The NDP has been around as a minority party since 1956. It’s only in this latest election that it has managed to finally supplant the centrist LIberal Party as the official opposition, apparently thanks to pretty inept leadership of the Liberal party by Michael Ignatieff. (Remember him?)
