    With all the rage on the other side of the Atlantic there indeed has not been (or it has been heavily buried) as much coverage of the European liquidity situation (something which can be summed up in one word, next). Outside of the banking problems in the UK, have there been any “clues” around like this Fortis article?

    While based on nothing, the mind wonders back to SocGen and the “rogue trader” episode which chronologically kicked off this annus financius horribus. These problems are without a doubt in European banks w/o the back-up of a strong under-lying “real” economy to fall back on. It will not be pretty once it kicks off.

    As it relates to the Morgan/Goldman article, perhaps after a very long week the FT decided to try its hand at a bit of Onion-esque reporting? While totally within their right to do so, probably not the best PR move to bemoan the issuance of bonus’ in this environment.
