Re: Energy company greed.
It is not just about greed is it? As you point out they are owned by Spanish, French and German companies. Will they/Are they being asked to do the same for their respective domestic populations? If not, why should they do it for the UKs Fuel-Poor? They will probably argue that he UK took the energy cash up-front when selling these “companies national interest/national well-being” off. Now we pay the price. Roy Hattersley has came close but probably cannot say it. If times are to be tough in England, English companies would surely be more like to stiffen the lip and take the hit in the national interest.
Give these companies an ultimatum – Voluntarily or Tax.
I would prefer the voluntary route as it would cut out the inevitable umpteen layers of inefficient government collection and distribution.
