The Guardian has announced it is setting up an offshore financing arrangemnt, saying:
Guardian Media Group plc, parent company of the Guardian, in partnership with Apax Partners, has incorporated a new company registered in the Cayman Islands as part of its proposed acquisition of Emap plc.
This is, as they admit, a stamp duty scam. And I like it no more from them than anyone else.
Fine hair splitting won't do on this issue: the Guardian should live by the ethic that it promotes.

It is an example of institutional hypocrisy and NIMBYism. Do as I say, not as I do and do what I preach you should do, but don’t expect me to do what I preach you should do.
And it is a classic example why I for one don’t pay much attention to politicians or journalists, least of all those who spend their time preaching (ie many of the columnists in the Guardian). The Guardian should be ashamed and their columnists should say so in print.
