I agree they are thinking of leaving: I don't believe they will. It's rather like me thinking of retiring: sometimes I do, but I know I won't - probably ever.

And I wholly agree with you that the current proposal is about the worst possible: I think I have said this on this site. It maximises the chance of any possible damage and delivers few benefits. That is bad law.

But, my point in this comment was to show, as usual that STEP's logic is defective.

To see my further comments you might lokk at today's Evening Standard

Richard

I would tend to disagree with you, since I work in the City and many are now thinking of leaving. But only time will tell and I may be wrong, who knows.

But I do not think this is where the problem lies. The fact is, this is not a just system: it is a regressive two tier system aimed at keeping the super rich happy and at targeting professionals. I agree the non-dom rules should be scrapped somehow, but this is not the way to do it, and this is certainly not just nor fair.

So I am a bit disappointed by your reaction to the new rules. I would have expected more reasonned thoughts on the subject and you have stayed very quiet on the fairness of the rules, which is very unlike you.
