I agree re Garret Fitzgerald - I am sure he was straight.

And maybe I am being unfair. But it seems like a tradition now. And that's a matter of regret, for me at least

This is probably only of interest to Irish people like us, but I think it's a tad unfair to say that Irish prime ministers have a tradition of irregular tax affairs.  Sure, the one we definitely know about, Charles Haughey, had irregular tax affairs off the scale, but I don't recall anyone implying, let alone stating, that prime ministers such as Garret Fitzgerald or John Bruton did anything dodgy with their taxes (I'm not a Fine Gael supporter, by the way).
