I totally agree, that is why I feel there must be a requirement for spoken/written english and skills that are required.

Jason

I agree

I also saw that Palin programme - but have to admit the guy in question had helped himself - he's learned Polish

I remain staggered that you can live in a country and not try to learn its language. That's not a raciust comment. It's an intellectual one.

Firstly, I firmly believe there needs to be a measured approach towards workers migrating to the UK, at all levels, and non-dom rules are a part of all this in the bigger picture.

It is not unreasonable to implement a system similar to Australia, one where spoken English (as the English are too lazy to learn another language) and required skills to fill gaps that exist in the market place are paramount.

Next, employers, everyone blames migrant workers, yet it is the employers who employ them over those born in the UK, and why, because they pay them far less and they will work longer hours no doubt.

So, yes we need a measured approach, as your wife will no doubt see first hand our infrastructure is struggling to cope.

Migrant workers are in many cases no doubt paid lower levels of income thus resulting in lower levels of tax and national insurance being collected to fund our services, but none of this is the migrant workers fault, it is the employers, so when will these employers be blamed and not those who come here and are prepared to work hard for a better life, and can you blame them, we are lucky, we were born here.

But this kind of story makes good headlines and is another soft target for our witless politicians to cease on.

I watched Michael Palin the other evening on his trip around Europe, and in Poland he met up with a Brit who went there 15 years ago, and this chap said he hoped the Polish who go to the UK are treated as well by his fellow countrymen as he has been by the Polish, well with embarrassment I guess we have to say we have let him down!
