My own view, for what it’s worth (it is at least based on past work, discussions and contact with US accountants) is that US CPAs are of lower quality in many respects than European accountants. It is far easier from what I understand and have been told to become (and in the past to remain) a CPA than it is to become a CA. Dual qualified CPAs conceded this to me. Quality in the US tends to go into the law, in the UK it goes also into accounting.
I would support European Accountancy over US Accountancy in most respects. They haven’t lost the Wild West mentality over the pond.
Prepared to hear other opinions on this, but am just donning my flak jacket…..
