I think someone would have to be unselfish to the point of saintly if they didn't feel at least a bit aggrieved at the idea of paying more tax because of a change in the law - whatever that change might be.

But if they could then see their money going to help end child poverty in Britain, or providing better hospitals, schools, etc, then it would be worth it.

It's when taxpayers see their money being squandered that they get upset.
