		<description>Let me congratulate Richard Murphy on what was a masterly performance on the Moral Maze. The performance was emphatic and made the case for IHT clearly and powerfully, such that those on the other side of the debate appeared quite knocked back. It was really cheering to hear such a cogent and articulate advocate of tax justice and social decency. Living in Sri Lanka I have not heard Richard speak before but I hope he gets lots of exposure and helps debunk the arguments being currently touted by the Conservative Party. 
(I teach A level economics in Sri Lanka and was at Southampton University 1977-81, roughly the same time as you from my reading of your biographical details).
