David

Good news that you're heading that way.

PTP are headed by Tim Good. He's the person to try to speak to. Based in Oxford. Give him my regards - it's several years since we have spoken but we used to know each other quite well. Vaughan Thomas is (if I remember rightly) his #2. A good guy from my recall.

Their products are good.

Hi Richard,
I've not been paying attention properly (plus the technology didn't highlight your link on my blog or Google alerts - oops) so missed this. I agree with your point on integrating client data, and I'm surprised that there are aren't more off the shelf solutions within "so called" practice management applications available. As Dennis says, we could do it with a wiki, but I'm investigating taking a more structured approach with portal access to an open source CRM product as the repository. We are also aiming to have standard links with all the popular accounts production packages as you suggest in item 6 - 3 done, and more in plan. I don't know PTP - if you have any contacts you can suggest there, please drop me a mail.

Emily - transparency matters if you want to be seen earning your corn :) Back in the day, I always showed clients the time card so they'd know where their money goes.

Point 6 gets my attention.

A SaaS package that linked with one or more of the mainstream statutory accounts production packages would be very useful for accountants.

That said I would vote for having this as a feature visible only by the accountant, not by the client!

This is pretty much do-able Richard. There are problems with the inbound data from on-premise systems to things like the tax stuff but those problems can be overcome. It's actually a lot simpler than you might imagine. All you really need is a suitable wiki designed accordingly.
